As we all prepare to celebrate our first Costa Rica Thanksgiving, we thought it would be the perfect time to reflect on all the things there are to be grateful for living in Costa Rica. The Weather

One of the best things about living in Costa Rica is the weather. With an average temperature of around 26 degrees Celsius year-round, it is always perfect for enjoying the outdoors. During this time you can expect it to rain just about every day, but it is typically just for a short period of time. Sometimes during this time of year it will only rain for as little as 15 minutes a day, leaving the rest of the day to be nice and sunny. For Costa Rica the rainy season is very important, and most of the locals really enjoy it. Without this season the country wouldn’t be anywhere near as beautiful as it is. Even though the rainy season may still be slightly present around thanksgiving, and it is possible we can get some rain during this time, it is arguably the best time to visit especially if you are looking for amazing views. So it is important to plan ahead when you want to leave town. You should plan to give yourself an extra 30 minutes to get to where you want to go during the December & January months. If you plan ahead and expect the traffic you should be just fine. Another big question people have is, is Costa Rica safe? The answer is yes, but don’t be careless. Violence is pretty unheard of around here especially in Tamarindo, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to be aware of like petty theft. Odds are just like most other places in the world, if you leave items unattended there is a chance they will be snatched. A little bit of common sense will get you through your vacation in Costa Rica just fine with no problems.

Pro Mom Tip: Given that Costa Rica is so chill, and gets so busy around this time of the year, the turnaround time for food when eating out can get a little long. We all know that hungry kids waiting for their food doesn’t always make for the most relaxing setting. So plan ahead and eat a little snack if you are feeling extra hungry before dinner. This tip doesn’t go for just the kids, a hangry dad is never a great sight!

If you haven’t heard, New years in Costa Rica is just about as fun as it gets, but with this you want to be prepared. There are so many fun places to spend your new years night here. With great places to eat all around town, many of them offer live music on the beach and different events all throughout the night. But like we said, new years in Costa Rica usually tends to get pretty busy all around. All you have to do is walk around Tamarindo and pick your spot. Once the clock strikes 12 the sky lights up with fireworks from every direction, and the best place to watch is obviously on the beach with your feet in the sand. So give yourself time before midnight to make your way to the beach and set up camp to enjoy the amazing fireworks Tamarindo has to offer. Whether you are alone or with all your family and friends you don’t want to miss this experience, it is truly magical. There really isn’t a better way to end one year and kick off the next than under the firework show right on the beach.
