If you haven’t heard the news yet, Thanksgiving is now an official Costa Rican holiday! As we all prepare to celebrate our first Costa Rica Thanksgiving, we thought it would be the perfect time to reflect on all the things there are to be grateful for living in Costa Rica. From the perfect weather to the laid-back way of life, the list of things to be thankful for can get pretty long. In order to save you some time, we have narrowed down the list to just the top 5 things we are thankful for living in this tropical paradise.

when to travel to costa rica

The Weather

One of the best things about living in Costa Rica is the weather. With an average temperature of around 26 degrees Celsius year-round, it is always perfect for enjoying the outdoors. Whether you are swimming in the ocean, hiking through the jungle, or just relaxing on the beach, you can count on beautiful skies. If you’re wondering when to travel to Costa Rica, between the months of December and April, there is almost no rainfall, which means it’s the perfect time to escape the bitter winters and enjoy some tropical sunshine. Costa Rica isn’t always all sunshine, but that definitely is not a bad thing. From the months of May to November it is the rainy season, also known as the green season in Costa Rica. During this time you can expect it to rain just about every day, but it is typically just for a short period of time. Sometimes during this time of year it will only rain for as little as 15 minutes a day, leaving the rest of the day to be nice and sunny. For Costa Rica the rainy season is very important, and most of the locals really enjoy it. Without this season the country wouldn’t be anywhere near as beautiful as it is. With the rain comes all of the lush beautiful landscapes that Costa Rica is known for, this is also why some people refer to it as the green season. Even though the rainy season may still be slightly present around thanksgiving, and it is possible we can get some rain during this time, it is arguably the best time to visit especially if you are looking for amazing views. Costa Rica thanksgiving will most likely be the most beautiful place you have spent thanksgiving due to all the nature being incredibly lush and green.

The Laid Back Way of Life

Costa Rica is well known for its laid back way of life and this is one of the things we are most thankful for. There is no need to stress about the little things in life here and you can always take the time to enjoy the simple pleasures, something we like to refer to as ‘Pura Vida’. From the fresh food to the friendly people, Costa Rica is the perfect place to relax and forget about your troubles. Sure just like anywhere else in the world life isn’t necessarily perfect just because you are surrounded by sunshine and palm trees, but the way of life here encourages a positive outlook and positive state of mind. Whether you are living here or just traveling it seems so much easier to connect with the things that really matter. Costa Rica has a way of showing you what’s truly important and will open your eyes to just how much beauty there is in the world. This is an experience and even more than that, it is a way of life.

The Natural Beauty

Costa Rica is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. From the pristine beaches to the lush rainforests, there is always something to admire. We are grateful to be able to wake up each day and experience the natural beauty of this country. Here in Costa Rica you have the opportunity to spend your days on a vast white sand beach, surrounded by nothing besides the turquoise water and sounds of crashing waves, or in the amazingly dense rainforest full of free and unique wildlife. Both of these things have so much to offer, and even though they are completely different ecosystems, you can go from one to the other within hours.

when to travel to costa rica

Between the miles of beautiful beaches along the coast, and the vast amount of rainforest, smoking volcanos, dramatic waterfalls and rolling mountains you will never be out of options for places to explore. As you know with different landscapes comes a variety of ecosystems, home to all kinds of wildlife. Whether it is monkeys swinging through the trees, iguanas sunning themselves on the beach, or dolphins swimming in the ocean, there is always something new to see. We are so grateful to be able to see and live alongside all of this wildlife in their natural habitat. If you are new to exploring these parts of the world it can sound overwhelming and even scary, but the people of Costa Rica understand that not everyone grows up experiencing these amazing parts of our planet. So thankfully there are tours for absolutely everything here run by local, knowledgeable people. They can not only take you to all of these places, but teach you about all of the wildlife, safe ways to encounter them, and make your experience exploring nothing but incredibly fun.

The Delicious Food

Typically when someone says thanksgiving, the first thing most people think of is the great food everyone looks forward to stuffing their face with all day long. Thankfully the food in Costa Rica is phenomenal. Countless restaurants host gatherings that are offering amazing thanksgiving dinners for you and all your friends and family to attend  Now if you are looking for a home-cooked meal to enjoy in the comfort of your own home, there are many amazing chef services to invite world-class chefs to come to your home and make you a private delicious meal to enjoy with your loved ones. Thanksgiving isn’t the only time we are grateful for the food here, you will be surrounded by amazing restaurants everywhere you go in Costa Rica. One of the best parts about the food is there is a place to fill any craving, from typical Costa Rican food to your classic cheeseburger and everything in between there is a place for it all.

The Costa Rican People

Last but not least, we are thankful for the Costa Rican people. They are some of the friendliest, warm and most welcoming people we have ever met. They are always happy to help and they make us feel at home in Costa Rica. The culture here is amazing, people are inviting to visitors from all around the world. The locals are so nice and accepting of people coming into their country and always willing to show off the beautiful country they come from. We can promise you that you won’t have trouble meeting friends here in Costa Rica. If you ever aren’t certain about something feel free to ask any local for advice on the situation, because just about 100% of the time they are willing to help you and make your experience here nothing but bliss.

The food, the people, the way of life – we are incredibly thankful for it all and we invite you to come to Costa Rica to see it all for yourself!

One of the best parts about being in Tamarindo to get your party on for the holiday season is you will never find yourself bored or looking for something more. But make sure you make time for a beautiful new years dinner at Pangas, fine dining right on the Tamarindo beach. Then stick around for live music and fireworks at midnight! If you’re looking for cheap drinks and a raging party for the New Years, check out Sharkies; a sweet divey bar right in the middle of town. Want to get lost in a sea of house music and fine cocktails? Chiquitas is the place for you. With so many options for places to spend your days and nights partying, the options for places to go are just about endless. Walk from beach bonfires to rooftop shindigs and everything in between, you can experience it all in this little beach town.

New years in Costa Rica

With all this talk about partying you might be wondering if you will have any time to relax. Well that is totally up to you. The best part about Costa Rica is you can live on “Tico Time” during your entire stay here. This means that your days are spent on your time and your time only. You can lay by the pool, ocean, or even chill at the bar all day if that’s what you are looking to do, and the best part is no one will say a word about it. One The trick to living your best life in Costa Rica is to let your daily decisions come to you. I think we can all agree life is always better when you have no plans. So spend your day doing exactly what you want to do, live in the moment because it doesn’t get much better than that. You might be thinking with all this relaxing you will probably build quite the appetite, and who wants to jump into the kitchen to cook a meal after a day by the pool. So it’s a good thing we have the best solution to your problem. We offer the best private chef service around. Our chef will come to your house and cook you a delicious home cooked meal off a curated menu of your choice. With the freshest ingredients, and the chefs amazing talent you won’t find a meal that compares to this especially without having to leave the comfort of your home.

Costa Rica Holidays 2022

We know that a lot of people traveling to Costa Rica come with the whole family, and most kids like to spend their time adventuring more than just around the pool. So it’s a good thing that Costa Rica offers much more than just that. Costa Rica is known for its great surf, whether you are just a beginner or even if you’re out chasing barrels. There are spots for everyone to get involved in the action happening on the water. In Tamarindo there are tons of bilingual instructors that offer surf lessons to teach people of any age how to surf and will show you exactly how to maximize your time in the water. If you or someone else in the family is an experienced surfer looking for bigger waves to ride, there are many amazing spots within 30 minutes of Tamarindo to go surf great waves. Now surfing isn’t the only thing we have for the family to do here in Costa Rica. Costa Rica is known for its diverse and beautiful landscapes all around the country. You can book tours to hike to amazing waterfalls, zipline over the gorgeous rainforest, send it in world class white water rafting, and so much more. The options are endless and though that might seem overwhelming, our staff here makes the process very easy. They show you all the fun things to do if you tell them what suits your version of fun the most and they will plan the rest from there, from tour guides to transportation we have you covered. What better way to spend the holidays.

Tamarindo is expected to get pretty crazy for the Costa Rica holidays 2022. This means there will be a lot of people in and out of town all day long, and even though Tamarindo is a small chill surf town, traffic gets pretty heavy this time of year. So it is important to plan ahead when you want to leave town. You should plan to give yourself an extra 30 minutes to get to where you want to go during the December & January months. If you plan ahead and expect the traffic you should be just fine. Another big question people have is, is Costa Rica safe? The answer is yes, but don’t be careless. Violence is pretty unheard of around here especially in Tamarindo, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to be aware of like petty theft. Odds are just like most other places in the world, if you leave items unattended there is a chance they will be snatched. A little bit of common sense will get you through your vacation in Costa Rica just fine with no problems.

New years in Costa Rica

Pro Mom Tip: Given that Costa Rica is so chill, and gets so busy around this time of the year, the turnaround time for food when eating out can get a little long. We all know that hungry kids waiting for their food doesn’t always make for the most relaxing setting. So plan ahead and eat a little snack if you are feeling extra hungry before dinner. This tip doesn’t go for just the kids, a hangry dad is never a great sight!

If you haven’t heard, New years in Costa Rica is just about as fun as it gets, but with this you want to be prepared. There are so many fun places to spend your new years night here. With great places to eat all around town, many of them offer live music on the beach and different events all throughout the night. But like we said, new years in Costa Rica usually tends to get pretty busy all around. So we recommend making a reservation wherever you want to have dinner that night, and if you aren’t sure where the best place to go is feel free to ask our staff for more details on events at all the places for new years night.

Now we know there is much more to it than just a nice dinner, and the fun definitely doesn’t stop there. Once you finish dinner the options are endless for different bars and parties to attend. All you have to do is walk around Tamarindo and pick your spot. Once the clock strikes 12 the sky lights up with fireworks from every direction, and the best place to watch is obviously on the beach with your feet in the sand. So give yourself time before midnight to make your way to the beach and set up camp to enjoy the amazing fireworks Tamarindo has to offer. Whether you are alone or with all your family and friends you don’t want to miss this experience, it is truly magical. There really isn’t a better way to end one year and kick off the next than under the firework show right on the beach.
