Welcome to the second edition of the Tropical Homes of Costa Rica local news update!  Thank you for your continued patronage and support.  Let’s take a look at what’s been going on in our quiet beach community lately:

  • Jean-Luc Taulere from Mar y Sol has launched his new bar and restaurant on Flamingo Beach, the Coco Loco!  Stop by for fast, delicious lunch options at the South end of Flamingo, with tables available ON the beach.  Call 2654-4151 for more information about both of these restaurants.
  • Hotel Bahia del Sol is now offering Merengua, Salsa, and Cumbia dance lessons at its Palapa Bar.  Join event coordinator Roxanna Arietta for some sea-side Latin Dancing every Tuesday at 6 pm, only $5 a person.  For more information, visit the Bahia del Sol website or call (506)2654-4671.
  • Costa Rican officials have closed both the Rincon de la Vieja and Turrialba volcano craters due to increased volcanic activity.  This is a preventative safety measure by the MINAET, as both volcanoes has minor eruptions last week.
  • Congratulations to both Playa Flamingo and Playa Potrero for earning one of Costa Rica’s highest honors, the blue flag award.  Both beaches received a score of between 90-100% on the Ecological Blue Flag Program created and administered by multiple cooperating Costa Rican agencies.

Another Semana Santa has come and gone, and the dust has finally settled on all of the road in and out of Playa Potrero.  What is there to do now that there is room to lie on the beach, restaurants have food for sale, and our town is peaceful and quiet once again?  Here are some updates on what’s going in our beautiful beach community:

  • The Village Community Center in Brasilito is hosting its weekly workshop series, the topics this week include “Healthy Communication With Children” led by Miss Heather Allenby, and is from 9 – 10:30am on April the 11th.  Miss Mary Ann Augustine is also hosting a discussion on “Life Lessons for Teens” from 10 – 12pm on April the 14th.  For more information on the Village Community Center, send an e-mail to info@conchalvillage.com or call 8355.9993.
  • Coming up this week is the organic farmer’s market, also located at The Village Community Center.  It runs from 2 – 6pm and is on the 10th of April.
